Steve Jobs was an American entrepreneur, business magnate, and inventor. He was the co-founder, CEO, and chairman of Apple Inc., one of the world’s largest and most successful technology companies. Jobs is widely considered to be a pioneer of the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s and 1980s, along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
Steve Jobs Life
Jobs was born in San Francisco, California, to Abdul fattah Jandali and Joanna Schieble. His parents were unmarried at the time of his birth and later married after Jobs was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. He grew up in Cupertino, California, and attended Homestead High School there. After graduating from high school in 1972, he enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. However, he dropped out after one semester and instead decided to explore India for seven months with a friend.
When he returned to the United States, Jobs took a job as a technician at Atari, Inc., where he worked on designing circuit boards for the popular video game Pong. He later left Atari to co-found Apple Computer with Steve Wozniak in 1976. The company was incorporated the following year and released its first computer, the Apple I, in 1977. The success of the Apple I led to the development of the Apple II, one of the first commercially successful personal computers.
Steve Jobs and Macintosh
In the early 1980s, Jobs oversaw the development of the Macintosh computer, which was released in 1984. The Macintosh was a commercial success and helped to position Apple as a leader in the burgeoning personal computer market. In 1985, Jobs left Apple after disagreements with then-CEO John Sculley and founded NeXT, Inc., a computer company specializing in the development of high-end workstations for the business market.
In 1996, Apple acquired NeXT, and Jobs returned to the company he had co-founded. He immediately set about re-organizing Apple’s product line and revitalizing the company’s marketing efforts. In doing so, he helped to make Apple one of the most successful and recognizable brands in the world.

During his time at Apple, Jobs also served as the CEO of Pixar Animation Studios, which he helped to found in 1986. Under Jobs’ leadership, Pixar produced some of the most successful and acclaimed animated films of all time, including Toy Story (1995), A Bug’s Life (1998), Finding Nemo (2003), The Incredibles (2004), and Ratatouille (2007).
In addition to his work in the technology and entertainment industries, Jobs was also a well-known philanthropist. He donated sizable sums of money to various charitable causes, including education and healthcare. He also served on the boards of several companies, including The Walt Disney Company.
Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011, at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer. He was survived by his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, and their three children.
